Effective October 15, 2007 Canada Border Services Agency will no longer allow "PAPER RELEASES" of most commercial import shipments.

The new measure requires Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for release purposes.

For the time being certain shipments that involve Other Government Departments (OGD's) such as Transport Canada for vehicles and trailers, will be exempt from this new requirement.

As a result of this change we will be under a much tighter time constraint and will require supplier's invoices and carrier bar codes much sooner than is now the case. Otherwise there could be delays at the port of arrival.

Please advise your service providers, carriers and suppliers of this new measure.
